On the first day of winter, two young stoats struggle to adapt to a snowy world, only to face an even greater threat from humans.
It is the first day of winter, and snow almost completely covers the valley of a nature reserve. Aller and Retour, two young stoats, peek out from their den and marvel at a world so different from the one they are used to. Hungry, they venture out in search of food, but their brown coats stand out against the snow, attracting the attention of a menacing eagle owl. When they encounter three young hares whose fur turns white, Aller quickly learns to change his coat too. But Retour cannot do it and retreats to their den, feeling frightened and alone. With Aller in grave danger, Retour must put fear aside and summon all his courage to save the only family he has left. With the help of unexpected friends, he discovers that “changing” does not necessarily mean leaving something behind, but rather building something new.
