A School Day
2026 · 7 min · Italy · without dialogue
Directed by Roberto Romano

Through empathy and imagination, a young teacher enters an autistic boy's inner world, helping him connect with the world around him.
The title A School Day is designed to condense this years-long transformation into a single day, using the acronym of A School Day: Autism Spectrum Disorder. At the heart of the story is the meeting between Luca (8), an autistic child, and Evangeline (28), a young teacher. Isolated from both the school environment and his elderly teacher, Amalia (63), Luca retreats into an inner universe. Evangeline manages to enter this dreamlike world, bridging the divide with empathy and gentleness. The interaction between the two unleashes the colors of awareness around diversity, bringing a newfound sensitivity even to Amalia.
